One Orphan Orangutan's Care

Fundraising target $3,000

Only 1 out of 6 orphans are lucky enough to be rescued – over 1,000 orphaned orangutans are living in rescue and rehabilitation centres across Borneo and Sumatra. Care of these infants is costly and requires 24hr staff, veterinary, and nurse care to ensure they are in a healthy condition and have the best chance to survive – and possibly even return to the wild.

Fundraising $3,000 will provide enough for the care of one orphan orangutan for a whole year, at one of the care centres supported by The Orangutan Project (TOP):

We are in regular contact with the staff at the centres and TOP representatives visit the centres several regularly to get updates on the orphans and see how they are progressing.

Pledge for our primates and secure hope for their future!

We would like you to come to understand that the habitat of the orangutan, the tropical rain forest, is vital to not only orangutans but to other wildlife and to all of us on this planet. Rainforests and related ecosystems provide important services from climate moderation, to water quality and erosion control, to storehouses of genetic, species and ecological biodiversity. Rainforests need to be sustainably managed to maintain these services. We want to inform citizens in our own communities of this connection and continue to enlighten local people in areas near orangutan habitat.
